Athlete 1965 - 1970

At 6-foot-8, Dan Beeson of the Class of 1970, was both tall and rugged. Under Coach Ted Wilson’s reign, Beeson helped Linfield reach four consecutive NAIA championship tournaments in the late 1960s.

A four-year basketball letterwinner, Beeson developed speed to go with his size while becoming one of the most dominating rebounders in program history.

Beeson averaged more than 10 rebounds a game in 1968-69. He also had a feathery jump shot and his field goal percentage of .639 ranked him 10th in the nation in that category.

He was a three-time NWC all-star, garnering second team honors as a sophomore and earning first team citations across his final two seasons.

Beeson continues to hold Linfield records for most rebounds in one season (397) and is No. 3 all-time in career rebounds (934). He averaged 15.3 career points per game over the course of his career, including 19.8 points per game as a senior in 1969-70.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education. After graduation, he was drafted by the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association, a team which evolved into today’s New Jersey Nets.

Beeson attended the Seattle SuperSonics rookie camp in 1970, was the last one cut from the team and later was asked to remain with the club as an assistant coach. He declined the offer, opting instead to enroll at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Ore. He completed his two years of training there, and in 1994, became board certified. Today, he owns and operates Beeson Chiropractic in Portland’s Sellwood neighborhood.

The Chiropractic Association of Oregon named Dr. Beeson “Chiropractic of the Year” on three separate occasions. He was the first chiropractor in Oregon to complete an advanced degree program in Internal Diagnosis and Treatment.

A native of Phoenix, Ore., he is married to Darla Beeson and lives in Lake Oswego. He has three grown daughters.
