From 2002 through 2005, Linfield Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Casey Allen thoroughly dominated the Northwest Conference and NCAA Division III. Watching old videos of the 6-foot-3, 220-pound receiver out-jump, out-run and out-work his defenders is must-see TV, to say the least.

Allen used his considerable size, strength and speed advantage, together with savvy, to become the finest receiver ever to don a Linfield football uniform. And on the running track, he teamed with three football teammates to form a record-setting 4x100-meter relay quartet, setting a school record that 17 years later has yet to be surpassed.

Coming to Linfield from Newport High School on the central Oregon coast, Allen earned seven varsity letters in football and track. He was a member of four straight NWC championship clubs and was pivotal in Linfield’s unbeaten pursuit of the 2004 NCAA football championship.

The two-time first team All-America receiver set career records for receptions (219), receiving yards (3,550), receiving touchdowns (59) and points scored (356). He holds single-season marks for receptions (90), receiving yards (1,410), receiving touchdowns (23) and receptions per game (7.09).

Linfield’s 2004 national championship team, quarterbacked by fellow Hall of Fame inductee Brett Elliott, led the nation in scoring (50 points per game) and total yards (510.8). Much of that production can be traced to Allen and Elliott, who formed perhaps the most lethal passing combination ever seen at Linfield.

In the spring, Allen was the leadoff on Linfield’s 2003 NWC championship 4x100 relay squad that included George Carter, Thomas Ford and Chris Boock.

“I absolutely love Casey,” said retired track coach Garry Killgore. “He’s such a good competitor and great person overall. With such a great frame and to run as fast as he did, I sure was happy as heck when he teamed up with George, Thomas and Chris to win the conference in the 4x100.”

“I was fortunate to have great coaches and teammates around me,” Allen said.

Competing in football and track at Linfield was a special experience like no other, he said, because “getting so many guys to buy into working toward a common goal is hard to do. At Linfield, the coaches are so good at getting everyone to believe. Getting that kind of buy-in is tough to replicate in the real world.”

Today, Casey is a construction contractor and an avid outdoorsman. He and his wife, Cappie, live in Adams, a small town near Pendleton, where they are raising their two children, June and Cayman.
