Photography and Videotaping Policy
All photographers/videographers must be granted permission from the Linfield University athletics communications office to photograph or videotape college athletic events from within restricted areas, specifically at field level, on sidelines, at courtside or on pool decks.
In general, only professional photographers shooting for Linfield or the visiting school, or credentialed media members in a working capacity are permitted at field/floor/deck level during the event. Photographers must adhere to all sideline regulations and are asked to be considerate of other photographers. Friends, family or other photographers may be granted permission with the advance request to shoot from the field area on a case-by-case basis.
All photography and videography must comply with NCAA and Linfield University rules and policy.
Per NCAA rules, images may not be sold for commercial purposes without gaining written consent from the Linfield Director of Athletics and by granting the college full use of all images captured. Images of student-athletes may not be used for commercial or advertising purposes.
Photographers and/or media members shooting images within restricted areas are not to enter the bench area and asked not to shoot into the bench area from directly behind or in front of it. Please remain 10 yards away from the benches and/or midfield substitution areas at all times as to not interfere with the operation of the contest.
Photographers must remain a safe distance from the field/court/deck boundaries so as to not interfere with players, referees, chain gang, ball boys, timers, or other event staff.
Photographers are asked to not block the view of spectators. No grips or assistants are permitted at field level unless previously granted permission from the Linfield University athletic department staff.
Standard media "No Cheering" policies will be enforced for all photographers.
MAXWELL FIELD: Above polices are in effect. Photographers must remain 5 yards back from sideline. Shooting areas are from 25-yard line to the end zone, and along both end lines. No shooting is allowed in either team's bench area between the 25-yard lines.
SOCCER/LACROSSE FIELD: Above policies are in effect. Photographers must remain 4 yards back from boundary lines. Permissible shooting areas are the portions of the sideline areas not occupied by spectator seating or team benches, and along the back line of the end zone.
TED WILSON GYM: Above policies are in effect. Photographers are restricted to shooting from the baseline areas. Please keep clear of team bench areas and scorers' table. Do not block the view of spectators in the bleachers. Stay back from baseline to not interfere with officials or competition. Flash photography is not permitted.
BASEBALL and SOFTBALL FIELDS: Above policies are in effect. Photographers are not permitted within the field of play and must not block the view of spectators in the bleachers. All others must shoot from the bullpen/sideline areas. Advance permission must be granted to capture images from sideline areas.
AQUATICS CENTER: Above policies are in effect. Photographers are allowed on pool deck only with permission of sports communications staff and/or coach. Stay clear of scoring/judging/officials and start areas so as not to interfere with the competition.
TENNIS CENTER/RUTSCHMAN FIELD HOUSE: Above policies are in effect. Photographers are allowed to enter competition area only after seeking permission of the sports communications staff and/or coach. Great care must be taken to enter and exit the competition area during natural breaks in play, such as between sets, so not to cause distraction to the players. Photographers may shoot from the sideline of each court only. Baseline photography is not permitted.
The above regulations are in effect for all sporting events and may be modified for the purposes of NCAA or Northwest Conference events.
VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE POLICIES DESCRIBED ABOVE IS GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL FROM THE FIELD AND/OR FUTURE ATHLETICS EVENTS.
ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS/MEDIA WORKING ON THE FIELD ASSUME ALL RISK FOR THEIR PERSONAL SAFETY AND ACKNOWLEDGE RISK OF INJURY FROM PLAYERS SPILLING OFF THE FIELD, BALLS, STICKS OR OTHER SPORTING EQUIPMENT THAT MAY LEAVE THE FIELD OF PLAY, OR ANY OTHER ROUTINE OPERATION OF A SPORTING EVENT.
Credentials should be requested in advance of an event by contacting the Linfield University athletics communications office at 503-883-2439 or 971-237-4774.
