MONMOUTH, Ore. –
Kira Hawaaboo continued to hone her marks for upcoming heptathlon events, while
Alex Oathout and
Conner Dooley made important strides in the 5,000-meter and 800-meter runs, respectively, for the Linfield Wildcats at the John Knight Invitational Saturday at McArthur Field on the campus of Western Oregon University.
The non-scoring meet, named in honor of longtime Western Oregon and Linfield track and field coach John Knight, featured 24 collegiate teams, plus an assortment of club organizations.
WOMEN
Kira Hawaaboo captured third place in the 100-meter dash in 12.40, topping a field of 37 competitors.
Jordan Roberts placed 14th in 12.98.
Hawaaboo was also 10th in the shot put with a personal record mark of 37-6.
Rachelle Silis turned in a season-best time of 59.48 in the 400 dash, placing sixth overall. The senior from McMinnville also ran a season-best 26.16 in the 200 dash, good for 12th place.
In the field events,
Analissa Paresa soared 10 feet, 10 inches to lock up fourth place in the pole vault.
Logan Roberts secured a 12th-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 4-11.
Jordan Roberts took third place in the triple jump, sailing 34-0¾.
Eboni Zehner was 12th in the javelin, tossing 109-2.
Margaritah Banuelos placed 15th in the discus with a mark of 109-10.
Sophie Hulke spun the hammer 136-2 to claim 11th place.
MEN
Alex Oathout was fifth in his specialty event, the 5,000 run, registering a new personal-best time of 14:46.22.
Conner Dooley continued to improve his time in the 800 run, recording a new personal best of 1:55.18. He placed 13th overall in a crowded field of 85 entrants.
Charles Dayton clocked a season-best time of 11.01 to place 11th in the 100 dash.
Liam Christensen was 14th in a personal-record time of 11.09.
Dayton also placed 11th in the 200 (22.72).
In the field events,
Nick Olsen tossed the shot put 47-8 to earn eighth place.
COMING UP
Hawaaboo and decathlete
Durham Huson will be competing at the Northwest Conference Multi-Events Monday and Tuesday at George Fox's Stoffer Family Stadium. The results of the meet will apply to team point totals at the NWC Championships, April 26-27, at Lewis & Clark's Griswold Stadium.
The remainder of the Linfield track and field team will compete Friday and Saturday at the Larry Byerly Invitational at Lewis & Clark starting at 10 a.m.
