McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield's defense stifled visiting Lewis & Clark on Friday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium. The Wildcats held the Pioneers below 30 percent from the field, en route to a 67-44 win on senior night.
Eve Burke led all scorers with 15 points while
Miki Vermeulen tallied a 12-point and 14-rebound double-double.
Ella Koebelin also cleared double figures with 12 points. Linfield shot 42 percent on 61 attempts and knocked down 4-18 shots from behind the arc. Linfield held Lewis & Clark without a double-digit scorer.
Emily Newton led the Pioneers with seven points while four other players finished with six each. Lewis & Clark (3-14, 1-8 NWC) shot 29 percent on the night on 64 attempts and made 1-17 three-point attempts.
Eight of Linfield's first 12 points came from the charity stripe after Lewis & Clark was for called seven fouls. The Wildcats slightly extended their two-point lead after the first quarter to four (25-21) by halftime. The 'Cats shot 26 percent at the break with Vermeulen leading all scorers with eight points.
Linfield led by as much as 15 in the third quarter. The Pioneers clawed back within 12 by the end of the period. The Wildcats completely pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 21-10 to complete the season sweep.
