McMINNVILLE, Ore. –
Marques Herrera-Kuehn found the back of the net for the first time in his Linfield career and
Henry Boudreaux came up with a huge second-half save as the Wildcats dominated the box score in a 1-1 tie with Puget Sound Sunday afternoon at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.
Herrera-Kuehn struck in the 48
th minute off an assist by his co-captain in fellow senior defender
Logan Clizer. Clizer headed a corner kick by
Cameron Gaines and Herrera-Kuehn put the ball away with a header of his own to tie the match at 1-1.
The Loggers' goal was handed to them 7:24 into the match as a free kick went off the head of two Linfield players and sailed past Boudreaux into the net.
Tensions were high in a second half that saw four yellow cards issued, three on the Wildcats. The two teams combined for 19 fouls in the contest.
Puget Sound had a chance to take the lead early in the 57
th minute, but Boudreaux saved a penalty kick by the Loggers' Diego Alvaro to preserve the tie.
The 'Cats outshot the Loggers 20-8, putting half of those shots on goal.
Sid Kosaris registered career highs with nine shots and five shots on goal. Herrera-Kuehn finished with three shots while
Seamus Miller had two. Herrera-Kuehn, Clizer,
Angel Hernandez and
Nicholas Reggiani all played the full 90.
Boudreaux made a season-best five saves in 90 minutes in goal. He's 0-2-1 on the season with 11 saves and a 2.86 goals against average.

Linfield (1-5-1, 0-1-1 NWC) will stay in Yamhill County next weekend, playing at George Fox on Saturday before returning to McMinnville to host Pacific on Sunday. Both matches are set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
