Linfield wins fourth straight match against Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash. – Linfield made a clean sweep of its weekend road trip to eastern Washington with a monster 20-9 win over Whitworth Sunday afternoon at the Whitworth Pine Bowl.

The Wildcats picked up right where they left off in Saturday's win over Whitman with seven goals in the first quarter. They scored three more in the second period and held Whitworth to just one goal to take a 10-5 lead into the break.

The Pirate attack couldn't get past the wall that was the Linfield defense as they scored just four goals in the second half. The 'Cats tacked on 10 more goals in the second half to down the home team by 11.

Linfield outshot Whitworth 30-16 with 26 shots on goal. The Pirates turned the ball over 20 times while the 'Cats picked up 25 ground balls and 16 draw controls. Kenzie Hemman led the Pirates with four goals while Madison Perry had two. Perry also had eight draw controls.

Seniors Maia Rezoski and Josie Duey led the way on attack for the 'Cats with four goals on the afternoon. Rezoski also finished with an assist while Abby Ross had four to lead the team. Ross, Bethany Shade and Amelia Wright all finished with hat tricks. Shade notched two assists, seven ground balls, eight draw controls and eight caused turnovers as well.

Lizzy Harms made four saves to improve to 11-3 in goal on the season. She has 73 saves in her sophomore campaign with a 12.21 goals against average.
