NEWBERG, Ore. --- Linfield women's lacrosse (5-10, 3-4 NWC) took on Yamhill County rival George Fox (12-3, 7-0 NWC) on Saturday, falling 21-2 to the Bruins who lead the Northwest Conference.

George Fox drew a quick 6-0 lead over the first seven minutes of the game, holding Linfield without a shot until the Wildcats broke the ice with under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Apple Riso to get the 'Cats on the board. The Bruins scored three more at the end of the quarter, leading 9-1 after one.

Linfield found some room offensively in the second quarter, taking four shots, but was unable to beat the Bruins goalkeeper. The Bruins tallied four goals on ten shots in the second quarter, taking a 13-1 lead into halftime.

All four of George Fox's goals in the third quarter came in a four-minute span early in the period.
Heidi Schaefer scored Linfield's second goal with five minutes remaining in the third, ending the scoring for the quarter trailing 17-2.

The 'Cats got a pair of shots on-target late in the game, but the Bruins remain the top-seed in the Northwest Conference with a 21-2 win in Newberg. GFU clinched a share of the conference's best record with the win, and can secure the top-seed with a win over Lewis & Clark tomorrow.Â

Tenley Hodge faced 33 total shots in the game, making five saves. Crist led the team with five shots, but wasn't able to find the back of the net; earning one assist. She also tied with
Madison DeLaTrinidad with four ground balls each. Riso and Schaefer scored the Wildcats two goals on six combined shots.

The 'Cats host Willamette for senior day tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m., honoring six seniors who have spent the last for seasons as Wildcats. Linfield sits one-game back of the four-seed in the NWC tournament, needing a win over Willamette and a Whitworth loss to Pacific Lutheran to earn the tiebreaker and the four-seed.Â
