WHY LINFIELD? I chose Linfield because my middle school health teacher, Kimo Mahi, is a Linfield alum. When he spoke of his days in college it greatly interested me. Linfield is the only school I applied to, it just felt right and was the only place I wanted to be. When I visited campus, it immediately felt like a place I knew I could eventually call home.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being a student-athlete means working hard on and off the field. It also means studying and working hard for your degree while working equally as hard to represent your school’s athletic department and be a part of a family, which is your team.
WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Something that makes me unique as a Student-Athlete is my medical journey keeping me from playing and how I came back better than ever. My sophomore year of high school, I had a series of three surgeries (calcaneal osteotomies) throughout 2017 and 2018 to correct my club-feet disorder. This kept me from playing my sophomore lacrosse season.
Although I couldn't walk for nearly a year and got behind my peers, I came back Junior year ready to work harder than ever and ended up earning all-Mid-Willamette Valley Conference Honorable Mention. Another thing that makes my experience unique is the fact that my senior year of high school took place in the middle of a pandemic so I unfortunately didn't get my senior season.
THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN... I’ve learned that determination and a strong work ethic go a long way.
AS A LINFIELD STUDENT-ATHLETE, MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE... My goal is to clear a BTB (behind the back) in a game. For my team, I want to be No. 1!
WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? My career focus is on track to become a physician's assistant. Linfield is helping me achieve this goal by providing an amazing liberal arts education and making available tools that help me thrive as a student-athlete.
