WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Linfield lacrosse shattered the program record for goals scored in a single match in a 27-20 road victory over Whitman Saturday afternoon at the Blues' Athletics Complex.
The previous Linfield single-match record was 22 goals, accomplished twice against Whitworth in 2019 and 2021. Both teams put up seven goals in the first quarter, but Whitman took a 14-13 lead into halftime. The Wildcats defense showed out in the second half, allowing just six goals while giving the attack an opportunity to score 14 more goals to cap off an action-packed two-hour, 25-minute contest.
The Wildcats registered 46 shots in the match, good for the third-most shots in a single match in school history. They also tallied 11 ground balls while forcing the Blues to turn the ball over 15 times.
Abby Ross had herself a day with a team-high seven goals to tie her season and career high. She also dished out an assist and picked up two ground balls.
Bethany Shade scored five goals and distributed three assists while
Josie Duey also notched five goals.
Maia Rezoski had four goals on eight shots with two assists.
Erin Magnuson did all she could to keep Whitman in the game with a match-high eight goals to go with an assist. Eliza Daigle notched four goals while three Blues scored twice.
Lizzy Harms made seven saves in the 60 minutes to improve to 10-3 in goal on the season. She has 69 saves on her sophomore resume.

Linfield has won three straight matches to improve to 10-5 overall and 6-4 in Northwest Conference play. The 'Cats will wrap up their eastern Washington road trip against Whitworth at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Spokane. They will then close their 2022 season with a make-up game against Whitman at home at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
