FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Linfield lacrosse kept the clock running in the Wildcats' first meeting with Pacific, a match that ended in a 17-4 rout over the Boxers. The 'Cats started a running clock again in the third quarter to sweep the Boxers in an 18-7 win Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
Linfield scored five straight goals in the first quarter, two coming from
Bethany Shade. The 'Cats went up 8-3 after the first period and took a 12-5 lead into halftime. The 'Cats went on another 5-0 run between the third and fourth quarters with Shade dishing out assists on three of those goals.
Linfield outshot Pacific 40-17 with 33 of those shots landing on goal. The 'Cats racked up 25 caused turnovers to the Boxers' 11.
The reigning NWC Player of the Year, Shade scored four goals and dished out four assists while picking up five ground balls and causing eight turnovers.
Josie Duey also scored four goals while
Maia Rezoski finished with a match-high five goals to go with three assists.
Amelia Wright turned in a hat trick while
Abby Ross had seven draw controls.
Hyland Cullen-Musengo led the Pacific attack with four goals on eight shots, six on goal. She also had eight draw controls. Billie Merriam finished with two goals while Sophia Alexander was the other Boxer goal scorer.
Lizzy Harms played the entire match in goal again, making two saves to improve to 8-2 on the season. She has 57 saves in 13 appearances and 11 starts.
