McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Despite firing off 31 shots, 22 on goal, the Linfield lacrosse team fell 20-10 to Yamhill County rival George Fox Sunday afternoon at the Linfield Lacrosse and Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats won 19 of the match's 33 draw controls, 12 of which were secured by
Bethany Shade in her first outing of the season. Shade finished with seven shots, six on goal, to go with a goal and an assist.
Maia Rezoski finished with a team-high four goals on nine shots, seven on goal.
Amelia Wright registered three goals and dished out three assists while
Abby Ross had two goals and six draw controls.
George Fox scored five goals in the first quarter, seven in the second and six in the third before being held to two goals in the final period. Kyra Barnes ignited the Bruins on attack with six goals on seven shots, all on goal. Barnes and Bailey Faust led the Bruins with five draw controls. Andrea Garcia-Milla tallied four goals and three assists while Marena Tharpe had three goals and two assists.
Ella Rand earned the win in goal for the Bruins, making seven saves in the first half before letting Emma Webb take over in the third quarter. Webb came up with another five saves.
Caity Babcock made six saves in her second start of the season in the net while
Lizzy Harms made five saves in just over 39 minutes of action.

The 'Cats look to bounce back from their 0-2 start to the season. They will host Occidental in a non-conference matchup at 5 p.m. on Wednesday before returning to NWC play against Pacific on Saturday in McMinnville.
