McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield lacrosse scored five of the first six goals in the match, but Occidental allowed just five goals in the second half to down the Wildcats 22-16 Wednesday night at the Linfield Lacrosse and Soccer Complex.
Occidental responded to Linfield's hot start by scoring six straight goals. The Tigers scored nine goals in the second quarter to go up 13-11 at halftime. The Tigers came out of the break on another tear, going on a 4-0 run to open the third period. The Wildcats were held to three goals in the third quarter and two goals in the fourth.
Both teams secured 21 draw controls. Oxy outshot Linfield 47-27, 17 of those shots coming in the second quarter. The Tigers put 35 of their shots on goal.
Annie Dolan led the Oxy attack with nine goals on 13 shots, all on goal. She also had seven draw controls to lead the Tigers. Bella Litt and Bella Kwan registered four goals apiece. Litt also dished out five assists. Dylan Herbert finished with three goals and three assists while Ella Acker had two goals and two assists.
Bethany Shade finished with a team-high eight goals to go with a pair of assists for the 'Cats. She tallied 10 shots, nine on goal, with 14 draw controls.
Josie Duey was a strong No. 2 for the 'Cats with six goals while
Abby Ross distributed four assists.
Andie Angelacci earned the win in goal, making three saves in just under 53 minutes off the bench.
Lizzy Harms played the entire match in net for the 'Cats and made a season-high 13 saves.
