SALEM, Ore. – The Linfield lacrosse team couldn't win back-to-back matches this weekend as the Wildcats fell 18-8 to Willamette Sunday afternoon at Sparks Field.
Willamette scored four straight goals to open the match and went up 7-4 at the half. The Bearcats went off for eight straight goals in the third quarter and held on in the fourth to put the game on ice. The Bearcats outshot the Wildcats 30-20 with 12 of those shots coming in the high-scoring third quarter.
Maddie Garcia and Tati Klenk led Willamette with five goals apiece. Klenk also dished out an assist and led the Bearcats with eight shots. Lily Bachiochi contributed four goals and five assists.
Bethany Shade scored three goals to lead the Linfield attack. She finished with a team-leading six shots, four on goal, to go with two ground balls.
Maya Wright and
Amelia Wright each scored two goals, Amelia distributing an assist as well.
Shelby Sawyer earned the win in goal for the Bearcats after making six saves.
Lizzy Harms played the entire 60 minutes in goal, making four saves.

The Wildcats (1-4, 1-3 NWC) will open a four-match non-conference stretch on Thursday, hosting Augsburg at 5 p.m. at the Linfield Lacrosse and Soccer Complex. The team will then travel to Kentucky on March 21-24 for meetings at Centre, Spalding and Georgetown College.
