TACOMA, Wash. – Linfield held No. 13/16 Puget Sound to 32.4 percent from the field, but the Loggers took 29 more shots to down the Wildcats, 70-42, Friday night at Memorial Fieldhouse.

The Wildcats trailed by two points after the first quarter. They scored 16 points in the second period, but the Loggers went off for 24 to go into halftime up 38-28. The Loggers tacked on another 21 points in the third quarter before limiting the 'Cats to just two points in the fourth.

Linfield went 4 for 10 from the field in each of the first three quarters. The 'Cats grabbed 36 rebounds, five less than their counterparts.

Gillyan Landis connected on 6 of 7, including 3 of 4 from three-point range, on her way to dropping a game-high 17 points. It was her tenth double digit scoring performance of the season and first in two weeks. The sophomore center also grabbed three rebounds.

Eve Burke was second to Landis with nine points while
Miki Vermeulen and
Peyton Bergevin scored four apiece. Vermeulen and
Paige LaFountain each led the 'Cats with five rebounds. Vermeulen also led the team with four blocks and three steals, both season highs.

Puget Sound took 71 shots in the game, including 26 from beyond the arc. The Loggers made 19 of 23 from the free throw line. They scored 26 points in the paint, 20 points on second-chance opportunities and 36 points off 37 Linfield turnovers. The Logger bench contributed 30 points.

Kennedy Brown put up 11 points to lead UPS, despite making just 3 of 15 attempts from the field. Paige Gerhart finished with 10 points, four assists and as many steals off the bench while Samantha Swartout, Sophie Nilsson and Jordyn Reverman all added nine points. Swartout led all players with eight boards.
