Landis scores 23 in overtime win over Warriors

SALEM, Ore. – Linfield has had a flare for the dramatic after playing in its third overtime game of the season at C.E. Jeffers Sports Center against Corban on Monday afternoon. Gillyan Landis scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Linfield over Corban 73-66 in overtime. 
 
Eve Burke also nearly tallied a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds while Amelia Solt also finished in double figures with 12. Miki Vermeulen grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and chipped in three points. The Wildcats shot 40 percent on 60 attempts and knocked down 4-23 shots from behind the arc. Linfield finished with a 34-22 advantage in points in the paint.
 
Kirsten Koehnke led Corban with 24 points while teammate Maddie Godwin added 14. The Warriors shot 28 percent from the field on 78 attempts and made 5-26 threes. Corban forced 22 Linfield turnovers.
 
An 8-2 scoring run gave the Warriors a 17-11 first-quarter lead. Corban carried a 27-20 lead into halftime after outscoring Linfield in the second quarter 10-9. Koehnke led all scorers with eight points while Landis led Linfield with six.
 
Kaylee Schow scored the last bucket of the third quarter as the Wildcats outscored the Warriors by nine to take a 38-36 lead going into the final period. Linfield led by as much as 10 with four minutes remaining in the fourth. The Warriors answered with a 12-0 scoring run to take the lead in the final minute. Landis' offensive rebound put off a free throw miss tied the game at 56 and forced overtime.
 
In overtime, the Wildcats led by as much as eight and salted away a win after Solt and Allison Mead combined for seven made free throws in the closing minute.

The 'Cats (6-4, 2-0 NWC) return to game action on Dec. 30 when they travel to face Northwest in Kirkland, Wash.
