McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield held visiting Walla Walla to 27 percent from the field on Sunday afternoon at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
Gillyan Landis led all Linfield scorers with 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Wildcats' 52-44 victory over the Wolves (3-2).
Ella Koebelin finished with nine points and
Miki Vermeulen added seven points and nine rebounds.
Eve Burke tallied seven rebounds. The Wildcats shot 34 percent from the field on 52 shot attempts and 27 percent from behind the arc.
Jaliyah Casem led the Wolves with 14 points while teammates Maren Jones and Natalee Trevino each finished with eight. Walla Walla converted on seven of their 26 three-point attempts. The Wolves full-court press created 20 Linfield turnovers.
A 9-3 Linfield run in the final four minutes put the home side ahead at the end of the first quarter 13-11. Another Linfield scoring run gave the Wildcats their largest game lead going into halftime 24-17. Landis led the 'Cats scoring with seven and Koebelin and Vermeulen followed behind with five each.
The Wildcats extended their lead to double digits on multiple occasions behind three made shots behind the arc and held a 40-30 lead at the end of the third quarter. Linfield scored 12 points in the final quarter and shot six for eight from the free-throw line to close out the win.
