McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield trailed 1-0 heading into halftime, but defending Northwest Conference champion and No. 14 Pacific Lutheran erupted for five more goals in the second half to top the Wildcats 6-0 Saturday afternoon at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.
Cris Lozano recorded a hat trick for the Lutes in 39 minutes off the bench. He amassed five shots, four landing on goal. Lozano struck in the 48
th minute, unassisted, before scoring again in the 53
rd off an assist by Cole Dobson. His third goal came in the 64
th off a penalty kick. He now leads the Lutes with five goals.
Trevor Thompson opened the scoring for PLU in the 25
th, assisted by Robby Guyer. Sam Erickson scored in the 60
th, assisted by Craig Johnson, while Archie Caldwell dished out an assist to Brandt Kelly in the 87
th for the sixth and final goal of the afternoon.
The 'Cats finished with nine shots, two on goal. Seven of those shots came in the second half.
Cameron Gaines and
Sam Haynes led the team with two shots apiece while
Angel Hernandez and
Aedan Carroll were responsible for the two shots on goal.
Henry Boudreaux made four saves in 90 minutes in goal in the Homecoming match. He's 0-2-0 with a 3.60 goals against average in three starts.
