FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Pacific defense kept Linfield quiet in the first half to break away early in a 66-39 win over the Wildcats Saturday afternoon at the Boxers' Stoller Center.
The Boxers were all over the Wildcats on the defensive end. The 'Cats made 15 percent of their shots in the first half, going 3 for 20 from the field and 0 for 6 from three-point range. They were scoreless in the first quarter and went back to the locker room down 30-6 at the half.
Linfield turned in the best scoring quarter of the evening, putting up 22 points in the third period on 42.11 percent shooting to go with a pair of threes and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line. The 'Cats tacked on 11 more points in the fourth quarter, but Pacific finished strong to complete a 27-point home victory.
Janessa Yniguez led the 'Cats with eight points, five coming at the charity stripe. She added two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Elyse Waldal knocked down all three of her shots off the bench to contribute six points while
Gillyan Landis and
Eve Burke had five points apiece. Landis finished with a team-high seven rebounds.
The Boxers connected on 44.3 percent from the field and 76.9 percent from the free throw line. They scored 34 points in the paint. Rilee Price led the way with 17 points on 6 of 13 from the field, including two field goals from beyond the arc. Brilie Kovaloff finished with 13 points and six rebounds while Emily Holsan also scored in double figures with 10 points. Alexis Intong grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Linfield (3-4, 1-1 NWC) split the week to fall to .500 in Northwest Conference play. The 'Cats are scheduled to play just one non-conference game next week, hosting Warner Pacific of the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference at 5 p.m. Saturday at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
