SANTA CRUZ, Calif. –
Gillyan Landis registered one of the top rebounding performances in program history as Linfield fell short to Cal Lutheran in a 59-50 affair Saturday afternoon at UC Santa Cruz's West Field House.
The sophomore from Yakima, Washington, turned in her second straight double-double and third of the season. She finished with 10 points, a career-high 19 rebounds and three blocks. The 19 rebounds are tied for fourth in program history and surpassed her previous career high of 14, set against Lewis & Clark on Jan. 28.
Linfield shot 40 percent from the field but went 6 for 20 from three-point range. Freshman
Eve Burke established a new season high in scoring, putting up 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting with three field goals from beyond the arc to lead the Wildcats offensively. She added four rebounds, an assist and two steals off the bench.
Rowan Cusack finished just under double figures with nine points and three steals.
Cal Lutheran had a lower field goal percentage than the Wildcats, connecting on 38.9 percent from the field. But the Regals forced 30 turnovers and made 13 free throws to the Wildcats' four.
Sara Mills scored a game-high 20 points and was a menace on defense with seven steals. Janna Holley tallied 14 points, two rebounds, six assists and six steals while Aliya DiMuro had nine points and seven rebounds.
