McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Linfield men couldn't pick up the season sweep of Yamhill County rival George Fox, losing a 1-0 decision Sunday afternoon at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.
The Bruins netted the game-winner just seven minutes into the match when Robert Rodarte scored his third goal of the season off a long cross from Eugene Peltier. Both players had two shots in the contest to help lead the Bruins to their first Northwest Conference win.
George Fox outshot Linfield 17-12, but the Wildcats put five shots on goal to the Bruins' two. The 'Cats had six shots in each half. The Bruins applied pressure on the Linfield defense with a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Sid Kosaris led all players with five shots and four shots on goal in 77 minutes for the 'Cats. He leads the NWC with 28 shots on goal and four game-winners while also ranking tied for fifth with six goals.
Logan Clizer and
Cameron Gaines added two shots apiece.
Angel Hernandez,
Ryan Johnson and
Nicholas Reggiani all played the full 90 minutes.
Henry Boudreaux made one save in goal in the loss.
With the loss, Linfield (5-10-1, 4-6-1 NWC) dropped three points back of fourth-place Whitworth (7-7-2, 5-5-1 NWC) with 13. Puget Sound sits right under the 'Cats in the standings with a 3-5-2 NWC record.
