TACOMA, Wash. –
Marques Herrera-Kuehn notched his second goal of the season, but Linfield fell 2-1 at Puget Sound to open the Tacoma road trip Saturday afternoon at Baker Stadium.
The senior defender helped the Wildcats avoid a shutout, scoring in the 80
th minute off an assist by
Seamus Miller. Miller is tied for the team lead with
Cameron Gaines with two assists. Herrera-Kuehn has two career goals, both coming during his senior campaign. His first goal of the season also came against the Loggers in a 1-1 tie on Sept. 18 in McMinnville.
The Loggers got on the board near the end of the first half when Noah Fiske scored in the 44
th minute off assists by Gabriel Faro-White and Adam Schmidt. Shane Ivich scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 72
nd, assisted by Luke Ahearn. All three Puget Sound assists came from players off the bench.
Linfield outshot Puget Sound 17-15 with nine shots on goal to the Loggers' seven. Herrera-Kuehn led the Wildcats with three shots, two on goal, in 70 minutes played.
Jake Murphy also registered three shots and two shots on goal off the bench. Gaines,
Max Testa,
Sid Kosaris and
Aedan Carroll had two shots each.
The team's leader in minutes played,
Angel Hernandez saw the full 90 for the third straight match and the 15
th time this season.
Nicholas Reggiani also played the entire match for the 'Cats.
Henry Boudreaux (4-8-1) made five saves in the contest.

The 'Cats (5-11-1, 4-7-1 NWC) will be in Parkland, Washington, on Sunday to take on second-place Pacific Lutheran at 2:30 p.m. The season will end at home on Nov. 5 against first-place and No. 8 Willamette. That match also marks Senior Day for Linfield.
