Wildcats start weekend with 2-1 road win over Boxers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Linfield is right in the middle of the pack in the Northwest Conference standings, holding on to its fifth-place position with a 2-1 road win over Pacific Friday night at Hanson Stadium.

With the win, the Wildcats swept the season series with the Boxers. They shut out the Boxers with a 1-0 decision back on Sept. 25 in McMinnville. The 'Cats (5-9-1, 4-5-1 NWC) are right behind Whitworth (4-4-1) for the No. 4 spot in the standings.

Ronan Hodge scored his second collegiate goal off an assist by Aedan Carroll in the 38th minute. The Wildcats went back-to-back when Sid Kosaris scored his team-leading sixth goal in the 60th, assisted by Marques Herrera-Kuehn. Kosaris leads the NWC with four game-winning goals while also ranking tied for fifth with his six goals.

Jericho Lara avoided the shutout for the Boxers, notching his second goal of the season with just over two minutes remaining in regulation. He scored in the 88th on a penalty kick.

Linfield fired off nearly twice as many shots as Pacific, outshooting the Boxers 15-7 with eight shots on goal. Kosaris finished with a match-high six shots, four on goal, in 85 minutes. Sam Haynes had a season-high four shots, two on goal, in 90 minutes. Angel Hernandez, Ryan Johnson and Nicholas Reggiani also played the full 90.

Henry Boudreaux earned the win in goal after making three saves. He improved to 4-6-1 on the season with 49 saves, a .681 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average.
