SPOKANE, Wash. – The Linfield Wildcats' unbeaten streak came to an end Sunday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to the Pirates at the Whitworth Soccer Field.
The loss broke Linfield's string of three straight 1-0 victories over George Fox, Pacific and Whitman. They also tied Puget Sound, 1-1, on Sept. 18 in McMinnville.
The Pirates were already up 2-0 in the first 14 minutes of the match thanks to a pair of goals by Tyler Wisen. Wisen scored in the 11
th minute and then struck again in the 14
th off an assist by Beckett Arthur. They were his third and fourth goals of the season.
Jaime Rodriguez notched another insurance goal in the 36
th. Whitworth finished the match with 13 shots, six on goal, while also adding five corner kicks.
Linfield had six shots on the day, but none were on goal.
Reese Nelson led the team with three shots in 52 minutes off the bench. His three shots were tied for the match high.
Angel Hernandez logged 90 minutes while
Nicholas Reggiani played 85.
Henry Boudreaux is now an even 3-3-1 in goal with 25 saves after making three against the Pirates. He owns a 1.73 goals against average.

Linfield (4-6-1, 3-2-1 NWC) is now tied with Whitworth (5-4-2, 3-2-1 NWC) for third place in the Northwest Conference standings. Willamette is an undefeated 6-0-0 in NWC play (8-0-2 overall) while Pacific Lutheran (9-2-0, 4-2-0 NWC) sits in second place.
The 'Cats will have a short upcoming weekend with just one match against the Willamette Bearcats at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in Salem.
