Linfield falls in three sets at Willamette

SALEM, Ore. – Raelynn Hammock recorded her eighth double-double of the season in a 3-0 loss for Linfield volleyball against Willamette Friday night at Cone Field House.
 
The Wildcats fell to the Bearcats by scores of 25-13, 25-23 and 25-19 to fall to 7-9 overall and 3-6 in Northwest Conference play. The Bearcats (7-8, 6-3 NWC) are tied for second place with Whitworth, one game back of first-place Puget Sound (10-7, 7-2 NWC).
 
Hammock led the Wildcats with 10 kills on 30 attempts while also adding two assists and 11 digs. The senior outside hitter is now up to 194 kills on the season, ranking fourth in the NWC. She's also second in the NWC with 230 points.
 
Ellie Mead contributed five kills, five digs and four blocks while Megan Stanek and Marina Erosa had three kills apiece. Sydney Downing came up with a season-high 12 digs while Aylea Dixon (11) and Claire Johnson (8) combined for 19 assists.
 
The Wildcats couldn't quite contain Olivia Cadien, who went off for a match-high 17 kills to go with four blocks, four digs and a pair of aces. Sydney Locke and Kaitlyn Westby also had four blocks for the Bearcats. Dani Queja added eight kills and nine digs while Shyla Sato led all players with 19 digs. Emma Porter dished out 33 assists.

Linfield stays on the road in Oregon to play at Lewis & Clark at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Pioneers' Pamplin Sports Center. The Wildcats took down the Pios in the first half of NWC play, winning in four sets on Sept. 17 at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
