WHY LINFIELD? I chose to attend Linfield because of the wine studies program. It interested me from the start and the opportunities kept growing from the welcoming staff and the opportunity to play volleyball for Linfield.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being a student-athlete to me means that I represent Linfield not only in the athletics but also in my schooling. Working hard on the court but more importantly working hard in the classroom, knowing how to balance school and athletics.
WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? What makes me interesting as a student-athlete is that I have not been playing volleyball for very long, in fact volleyball was not my dominant sport until I was a sophomore in high school. I have only been playing for about six years starting in middle school up through high school then three years at the club level. In this time, I have excelled at what I do in the short amount of time I have played, as well as keeping my cumulative GPA at a 3.7 graduating with a 4.2 and being a part of many extracurricular activities such as yearbook editor and national honor society.
WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? My career focus is going to be wine studies with a focus in business and possibly a language. With this I want to go into the restaurant business, hopefully working with chefs and restaurant owners to create the best list of wine collection for that restaurant and what they specialize in. With Linfield’s expanding wine department, they offer a number of opportunities for work or internships as well as small classrooms for a more focused education.
WHAT IS THE BEST CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AT LINFIELD? My favorite class at Linfield so far has been my Wine 214 class, I love the professor and class content.
WHEN NOT COMPETING IN SPORTS OR STUDYING FOR SCHOOL, I LIKE TO SPEND MY FREE TIME… Working in the archives department in the library, seeing my wonderful sorority in Zeta Tau Alpha and seeing my friends around campus.
THE GREATEST LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN… No matter how hard it gets or how many problems you face, you will always be able to go through it. Focus on the positive and keep working as hard as you can.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR LINFIELD CAREER THUS FAR? The last weekend of last season, we played the best we had ever played and all had a good time to end the season. The tournament at Cal Lutheran was also a highlight for me.
