Myre and Alefaio-Foifua earn volleyball All-Northwest Conference honors

| By:
Junior OH/MB #11 Nora Myre
On Monday afternoon, the Northwest Conference announced their annual Volleyball All-Conference honorees, with Wildcats Nora Myre and Naia Alefaio-Foifua being recognized as some of the top volleyball student-athletes in the conference.

Myre led the way, earning First Team honors for her stellar season offensively and defensively. Freshman Alefaio-Foifua made a huge impact for Linfield at libero in her first season, ranking amongst the best in the conference in digs per set, earning her Third Team honors.

Junior outside hitter and middle blocker, Nora Myre led the 'Cats in kills, totaling 264 with a 3.14 kills per set average while swinging .161 on the season. A native of Redmond, Washington, Myre competed in all 21 matches, also leading the team with 33 aces. On defense, she had 287 digs, and 3.42 digs per set, both marks that trailed only Alefaio-Foifua on the team.

Myre was the only student-athlete in the conference to rank inside the top-ten in both kills per set (fourth) and digs per set (seventh). She also tallied 18 total blocks down low. This marks her second time earning All-Northwest Conference honors, as she was the lone Wildcat a season ago to be honored, earning Honorable Mention for 233 total points, 33 aces, and 189 digs over 20 matches. The daughter of Dawn and Craig Myre, she is currently majoring in political science and psychology.

Defensively, there wasn't many better than freshman Naia Alefaio-Foifua. In her first collegiate season, she tallied a team-high 316 total digs for an average of 3.95 per-set, ranking fifth in the category amongst the Northwest Conference. Her consistency at the libero position through 18 matches this season earned her Third Team All-Conference honors. With the second-most service aces on the team, trailing only Myre, Alefaio-Foifua looks to be a staple in the Linfield starting lineup for years to come. The daughter of Chante Alefaio and Deshawn Foifua, she is currently majoring in Business. The freshman was named NWC Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week three times this season.

The Wildcat Volleyball team saw their best season since 2013, finishing sixth in the Northwest Conference standings with a 9-12 overall record and 7-9 in conference play in head coach Jenna Street's first season at the helm of the program.
