MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Despite playing with a woman down for the final 14 minutes of the match, the Linfield Wildcats swept the season series over the Pacific Boxers with a 13-8 win on Sunday afternoon.
Linfield led 12-0 in the match and picks up its fourth win a row and is now 4-2 overall and in Northwest Conference play. Pacific is 0-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Josie Duey led Linfield with four goals, she also had two assists. She scored the first and last goals for the Wildcats. Freshmen
Emma Robbins and
Emma Vande Brake had two goals each as did
Bethany Shade and
Jenna Hessel. Robbins had two assists as well.
Shade won seven draw controls in the match. She picked up her second yellow card of the afternoon at the 14:23 mark in the second half, forcing the Wildcats to play with a woman down for the rest of the match. Boxers had three yellow cards in the match.
Vivian Mai scored four of the eight goals for the Boxers that came on an 8-1 run by the Boxers. Julien Dagan and Sydney Bierenkoven had two goals each as well.
Duey won four draw controls and caused three turnovers. Shade caused four and
Gemmajean Patterson also caused three. For the Wildcats, Shade picked up five groundballs,
Maia Rezoski and Patterson each had four and Duey had three. Linfield as a team had 25 groundballs, Pacific had 19.
Linfield went 12 for 13 in clear attempts and held Pacific to 10 for 21. In goal for the 'Cats,
Epi Roldan-Rayo played the majority of the match. She played the entire first half and the last seven minutes of the second half. The Newberg, Oregon, native made three saves. Madyson Ivey made eight saves for the Boxers.
Hessel had 10 shots, Duey had eight and Rezoski had six. Wildcats 42 team shots and half of them were on goal.
The Wildcats sweep the season series over the Boxers. Their last loss to the Boxers came on April 23, 2017.
