SPOKANE, Wash. – A day after scoring 22 goals, the Linfield Wildcats scored 19 goals on Sunday at Puryear Field to beat the Whitworth Pirates, 19-5.
Maia Rezoski had seven goals for the Wildcats.
Linfield moves to .500 with two wins this weekend over Whitworth, which is now 0-2. The average margin of victory in the five meetings all-time has been 17.3 goals for Linfield.
Trinity Frank and Carcie Chappell scored the first two goals of the match to give Whitworth a 2-0 lead, but Linfield answered with 16 straight goals to push it 16-2. The Wildcats led by 16 goals at the 7:04 mark of the second half, but the Pirates scored the last two goals to make it 19-5.
Chappell had two of the five goals for the Pirates. Frank, Kylee Walker and Madison Perry had the other three.
Epi Roldan-Rayo made two saves for Linfield, playing the first half.
Lizzy Harms came in at halftime and made four saves.
Rezoski had eight points in the match,
Bethany Shade had eight as well, she scored three goals and had five assists.
Josie Duey had three goals and two assists. Freshman
Emma Robbins had three points, as did
Jenna Hessel.
Shade had 18 draw controls in the match on Sunday, which is a program record. Her record of 16 draw controls on Saturday lasted less than 24 hours. The previous program high in draw controls was 10 coming into the weekend. She also caused three turnovers. Duey led the team with four,
Emma Vande Brake had three as well, who also had an assist.
Duey and Shade were the team leaders in groundballs with five a piece. Robbins collected four groundballs. Rezoski led the team with nine shots on goal.
The seven goals scored by Rezoski are tied for seventh in program history. Hessel also scored seven for the 'Cats on Saturday.

The Wildcats remain on the road next weekend, taking on the Pacific Boxers on Saturday and Sunday. Start time both days is scheduled for 1 p.m.
