REDLANDS, Calif. – The Linfield women's basketball team opened its four-game California road trip with a 75-61 loss to Redlands on Friday night at Currier Gym.
Redlands led the entire game, extending its lead to as much as 22 points. The Bulldogs shot 37.3 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from three-point range and 51.4 percent from the free throw line. They scored 16 points off turnovers.
Linfield connected on 38.3 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from deep. The Bulldogs took a 36-22 lead into halftime and never looked back, scoring another 39 points in the second half.
Alyssa Downs led all players with 20 points on 7 of 17 shooting from the field, 4 of 6 from outside and a perfect 2 of 2 from the charity stripe. She also had three rebounds and a steal. Chyanne Pagkalinawan, Angelina Roque and Hannah Jerrier all scored 14 points. Jerrier finished with a team-high nine rebounds while Pagkalinawan had seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.
The Wildcats were led offensively by senior guard
Maggie Smith and freshman forward
Gillyan Landis, both of whom put up 12 points. Smith also finished with three rebounds and three assists while Landis had six rebounds. Junior forward
Jordan Worthington scored 10 points off the bench, connecting on 4 of 9 from the field and 2 of 3 from three-point range. Worthington led a Linfield bench that scored 25 points.

Linfield fell to 0-2 on the season with the loss. The 'Cats will continue their road trip on Saturday, playing at Chapman at 5 p.m.
