Linfield wins eight events at L&C Invitational

PORTLAND, Ore. – Linfield junior Sara Miles won the shot put with a personal-best effort, then took the top spot in the javelin Saturday at the Lewis & Clark Invitational held Saturday on the Eldon Fix Track at Griswold Stadium.
 
Miles won the shot put with a toss of 39-11¼ (12.17m) surpassing her previous best of 37-8½ and then heaved the javelin 104-9 to take that event as well. The psychology major from Medford, Oregon, also had a fourth-place finish in the discus with a best of 97-8 (29.77m).
 
Other first-place finishers for the Wildcats included Max Lommen, who won the high jump with a leap of 6-2½ (1.89m), Matt Metcalf in the javelin with a toss of 167-2 (50.96m), Dallin Buck with a personal best of 22-0¼ (6.71m) in the long jump, Olivia McDaniel clearing 12-6 (3.81m) in the pole vault, Cody Mitchell taking the shot in 49-2¼ (14.99m) and the quartet of Jenna Mihelich, Baylie Cameron, Juliet Arnswald and Courtney Beard winning the 4x400m relay in 4:26.21.

Women
All five Wildcats entered in the 800m finished among the top eight, led by Beard's second-place result (2:22.61). Nicole Bissey was fifth (2:35.08), Kelly Roth earned sixth (2:41.10), Kelsey Kuhns was seventh (2:43.35) and Ashley Ambrose placed eighth (2:43.90). Beard was also runner-up in the 1,500m with a time of 4:39.54, followed by Bissey's sixth-place showing of 5:02:15.
 
Cameron returned to take third in the 100m hurdles in 17.53 while Anne Ferguson finished sixth in the 200m in 28.36. Ferguson also claimed third place in the 400m with a time of 1:05.00 while Mihelich finished seventh in 1:08.59.
 
Arnswald returned to run 1:13.30 and take second place in the 400m hurdles. Tiffany Wall leapt 5-0¼ (1.53m) to finish third in the high jump.
 
McDaniel led a trio of Wildcats in the long jump, taking second place with a personal-best leap of 17-2¼ (5.24m) followed by Maddie Shirley in fourth place (16-8½ - 5.09m) and Mehana Sabado-Halpern in fifth (16-6, 5.03m).  Sabado-Halpern was runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 36-7¼ (11.16m).
 
Emma Baker and Meg Angier both cleared 9-11¾ (3.04m) in the pole vault with Baker awarded second and Angier third by virtue of fewer misses.
 
Josie Knight was second in the shot with a toss of 35-11¼ (10.95m). She then teamed with Mihelich, Arnswald and Angier to also take second in the 4x100m relay with a time of 53.24.

Men
Buck returned to run 11.36 in the 100m and 22.82 in the 200m to finish third in each event. Tyler Sitton crossed the finish line in 23.37 to take eighth in 200m. 
Brian Douglas and Nick Oja-Zdroy were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400m with Douglas finishing in 52.55 and Oja-Zdroy in 53.17.
Ronan Krutzikowsky had a personal-best clearance of 14-2¾ (4.34m) in the pole vault to finish third while Jon Sedy ran 1:05.27 to claim fourth in the 400m hurdles.
Mitchell tossed the discus 131-0 (39.92m) for fourth place and Tyler Post finished eighth with a mark o 119-3 (36.35m).  Post secured third place in the shot with a heave of 41-11¼ (12.78m).
In the hammer throw, it was Metcalf taking fourth with a toss of 138-7 (42.25m) followed by Julien Sears in seventh (119-04 - 34.80m) and Grant Jackson in eighth with a personal best of 95-2 (29.01m).
Trey Petersonwood (140-6 – 42.82m) and Marquis Perrilliat (138-3 – 42.14m) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in javelin. Travis Kaloa took sixth place in the long jump with a personal best leap of 20-1½ (6.13m).
Lommen returned to take second in the triple jump with a personal best of 42-4 (12.90m).

The Wildcats travel to Tacoma, Washington, for the NWC Championships, April 26-27, on the campus of Pacific Lutheran University.
