LA GRANDE, Ore. – Nearly two dozen Linfield track and field athletes got an early start to the 2026 indoor season at the Beat the Freeze Up Invite, hosted by Eastern Oregon University.
Â
Several first-year Wildcats performed well in their collegiate debuts, most notably
Hudson Holzhauer, who set a new Linfield indoor record in the 35-pound weight throw. The sophomore placed third with a heave of 52 feet, 9¼ inches (16.08 meters).
Â
Holzhauer, a transfer from Northern Arizona University, surpassed the standing record of 49-3 set by Matt Metcalf at the 2019 Lauren McCluskey Memorial Invitational in Moscow, Idaho.
Â
Other top finishers for the Linfield men included freshman
Jayden Donald, who placed third in the 60-meter dash in 7.03 seconds, and
Tyson Morris, whose personal-best effort of 13-11¼ (4.25 meters) in the pole vault earned the freshman fifth place.
Â
On the women's side,
Isabella Grutsch won the 60-meter hurdles by a substantial margin. Her time of 9.15 seconds ranks second on Linfield's all-time indoor list and was .55 seconds faster than runner-up Aliviah Mode of Eastern Oregon, who clocked 9.70.
Â
Freshman
Savannah Filios placed fifth in a field of 12 competitors in the 20-pound weight throw with a personal-best mark of 41-7½ (12.69m). She was also seventh in the shot put, tossing the steel ball 35-4¾ (10.79m).
Â
Sage Cramp turned in a memorable meet, placing second in the pole vault. Her mark of 11-3¾ (3.45m) tied her with Misty Corwin for No. 5 on Linfield's career indoor list.
