SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Linfield's
Keaton Wood sits in fifth place after the first day of the Decathlon in the Jim Klein Combined Events held in conjunction with the Westmont Classic Track & Field Meet on the Westmont College campus.

Two other Wildcats are also competing in the event.
Tyler Sitton finished in 14th place at the end of the day and
Ronan Krutzikowsky was at three places back in 17th.

Wood totaled 3,426 points after five events while Sitton scored 2,863 and Krutzikowsky has 2,291. Tyler Nelson of UC Santa Barbara leads all competitors with 3,939 points.Â

Here's the breakdown of the first five events for the 'Cats.
100m – Wood (11.30 – 795 points), Sitton (11.71 – 709 points), Krutzikowsky (11.74 – 703 points).

Long Jump – Wood (6.29m – 650 points), Sitton (5.82m – 548 points), Krutzikowsky (11.74 – 703 points).

Shot Put – Wood (10.42m – 511 points), Sitton (9.67m – 466 points), Krutzikowsky (8.79 – 413 points).

High Jump – Wood (1.88m – 696 points), Sitton (1.67m – 520 points), Krutzikowsky (NH– 0 points).

400m – Wood (50.89 – 774 points), Sitton (53.71 – 652 points), Krutzikowsky (54.30 – 627 points).

The final five events conclude Friday. Action begins with the 110m hurdles and finishes with the 1,500m run.

Travis Olson said approximately 10 athletes have qualified and will travel to Salem on Saturday to participate in the Willamette Invitational. Start time is 10 a.m.
The 'Cats return to Maxwell Field on April 6 for the Linfield Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational.
