Outdoor season begins at Erik Anderson Icebreaker

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Ronan Krutzikowsky made his Linfield outdoor debut a memorable one at the annual Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker meet held Saturday at Maxwell Field under sunny but cool weather conditions. 
 
The freshman from Newport, Ore., won the 400-meter hurdles in 59.04 seconds and was a member of both winning relay squads. Krutzikowsky teamed with Mesepa Short, Tyler Sitton and Keaton Wood in the 4x100m relay in a time of 44.32, then joined Dallin Buck, Brian Douglas and Johathan Sedy on the winning 4x400m relay in a time of 3:31.25. Krutzikowsky completed his day by taking fifth place in the pole vault with a clearance of 12 feet, 11 inches (3.94m).
 
Women
Madeline Shirley was the lone female victor for the day, winning the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.54. Shirley was followed by Ani Keliiheleua's fourth-place finish in 16.01 and Baylie Cameron's sixth-place mark of 16.97. Shirley also finished eighth in the javelin with a toss of 112-2 (34.18m).
 
Juliet Arnswald finished 10th in the 400m with a time of 1:08.17 while teammate Anne Ferguson captured fifth place in the 800m in 2:36.85. 
 
Nicole Bissey crossed the line in eighth place in the 1,500m with a time of 5:27.58.
 
Two Wildcats made the top eight in the pole vault as Meg Angier cleared 10-5½ (3.19m) for fourth place and Emma Barker cleared 8-6 (2.59m) for seventh.
 
Mehana Sabado-Halpern had a best leap of 16-8½ (5.09m) in the long jump to garner thirrd place. Sara Miles and Josie Knight both placed in the shot put with Miles taking eighth with a mark of 35-10¾ (10.94m) and Knight securing 10th with a best of 34-3½ (10.45m).
 
The team of Shirley, Keliiheleau, Cameron and Sabado-Halpern just missed the top spot in 4x100m relay, finishing second with a time of 53.45. The quartet of Arnswald, Cameron, Sabado-Halpern and Jenna Mihelich were fourth in the 4x400m relay in a time of 4:33.75.
 
Men
Matt Metcalf made his Linfield outdoor debut by winning the javelin competition with a toss of 182-5 (55.06m) and then returned to finish seventh in the hammer with a toss of 134-4 (40.94m).

Joining Metcalf placing in the javelin were Marquis Perrilliat in sixth place with a best of 158-5 (48.29m). Trey Petersonwood was eighth at 150-9 (45.94m).
Cody Mitchell took second place in the shot put with a best of 45-9 (13.94m) while teammate Tyler Post earned fourth at 42-8¼ (13.01m).  Mitchell also claimed sixth in the discus at 128-3 (39.10m).

Max Lommen cleared 6-1¼ (1.86m) to lock up fourth place in the high jump and Wood returned to finish eighth in the long jump with a leap of 21-21/2 (6.46m).  Wood also joined Short, Sitton and Tony Winters to place third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:39.02.
 
Sitton raced to a fourth-place showing in the 200m with a time of 23.25. Freshman Nick Zdroy-Oja finished second in the 800m with his time of 2:02.88. 
 
Senior Efrain Martinez-Santos ran well enough for a 10th place finish in the 5,000m with his time of 17:16.56.

Next
The Wildcats head to Forest Grove next Saturday for the Pacific Invitational starting at 10 a.m. The 'Cats return to Maxwell Field on April 6 for the Linfield Jenn Boyman Invitational.
