Kiyan Vrell, Logan Roberts enjoy best performances at John Knight Twilight

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Competing in a crowded event spanning two days, the Linfield Wildcats achieved a number of top-10 results at the John Knight Twilight track and field meet held Friday and Saturday at McArthur Field on the campus of Western Oregon University.
 
Linfield's men placed 14th among 23 collegiate teams. The Wildcat women tied for 15th in a field of 24 collegiate programs.
 
MEN
Highlighting the leading finishes, Kiyan Vrell earned the top individual finish for the men, placing fourth in the javelin with a mark of 186 feet, 1 inch. Shyson Cachuela hurled the shot put 45-2½ to claim seventh place.
 
CJ Brindeiro ran a personal-best time of 10:40.87 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing seventh. Marco Stroman secured a personal-best time of 16:20.24 in the 10,000 run, placing 10th.
 
WOMEN
Logan Roberts leapt 5 feet, 1 inch in the high jump to place fifth among 21 entrants.
 
Natasha Freimuth placed ninth in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.19.
 
Savannah Filios tossed the hammer 130-0 to place 12th and teammate Sophie Hulke was 13th with a mark of 128-9. Filios was also 12th in the shot put with a heave of 36-5½.
 
Baylie Thompson earned a ninth-place showing in the long jump with a mark of 17-5½. Lauren Klopcic went 34-0¾ in the triple jump, placing ninth, just ahead of fellow Wildcat Jordan Roberts, who was 10th at 33-8½.
 
The women's 4x100 relay raced to a season-best time of 49.41. The foursome of Freimuth, Jordan Roberts, Thompson, and Paige Kasso placed fourth overall.
 
NEXT
Linfield heptathlete Isabella Grutsch and decathlete Durham Huson are scheduled to compete Monday and Tuesday at the Northwest Conference Multi-Event Championships, hosted by George Fox University at Stoffer Family Stadium. The remainder of the Wildcat track and field squad will compete Saturday at the Larry Byerly Invite at Lewis & Clark's Eldon Fix Track/Griswold Stadium starting at 10 a.m.
