McMINNVILLE, Ore. --- Linfield women's lacrosse (0-1) began their season at home on Wednesday evening, falling 17-3 to the Redlands Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0 SCIAC).

Redlands took the opening draw and turned it into the first shot attempt of the game, but senior goalkeeper
Tenley Hodge made the save for Linfield. The Wildcats flipped the field for
Heidi Schaefer to take Linfield's first shot of the season, missing wide.Â

The Bulldogs struck first shortly after, taking an early 1-0 lead with 11:42 left in the first. Linfield was unable to get the offense going, as Redlands scored three consecutive goals, holding the 'Cats to without another shot until late in the quarter.Â

Freshman
Apple Riso scored the first Wildcat goal of the season with just 1:19 left in the period, slotting home a free position attempt to make it 4-1 after one.

Linfield was held to just two shots in the second quarter, one of which on-frame from
Evelyn Cross, meanwhile Redlands extended their lead to double-digits, leading 11-1 at halftime.Â

Following the breather,
Heidi Schaefer scored a man-up goal with 12:12 left in the third quarter, making it 11-2 Redlands. The visitors added a pair of goals midway through the third, but Linfield's
Maizri Chandler ended the quarter with a free position goal to enter the fourth trailing 13-3.

The Wildcat offense was shaky in the final quarter, unable to fire a shot attempt over the final 15 minutes. Redlands scored four goals in the quarter, taking the match, 17-3.

Linfield had six total shots, two in each of the first three quarters, while all three scores served as the three shots on-target. Hodge made 10 total saves in the game on 34 Bulldog shots faced. Schaefer led with two shots of her own, while
Grayce Miller picked up three ground balls.
Savannah Irwin and
Madison DeLaTrinidad caused three turnovers each.Â

The Wildcats compete again this weekend in Forest Grove, Oregon, taking on the Pacific Boxers at 1 p.m.
