TACOMA, Wash. - Midfielder
Gabby Crist scored a career-high 10 goals and added two assists as Linfield steamrolled Pacific Lutheran 20-1 on Saturday afternoon at East Field in Northwest Conference women's lacrosse action. Crist's performance is her second 10-goal match in as many days for the Wildcats.
Crist scored early and often for the Wildcats, who built a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Linfield outshot the Lutes 36-6 overall and held a staggering 32-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The Wildcats' offensive barrage included multi-goal efforts from
Savannah Irwin with three and
Maya Wright with two. Irwin also handed out two assists, while Wright contributed a team-high three assists to go along with eight draw controls.
Linfield dominated possession from the start, capitalizing on Pacific Lutheran's 26 turnovers and converting 12 of 13 clear attempts.
Mackenzie Kulick added two goals, including a man-down score to cap the first-quarter scoring frenzy, and
Maizri Chandler and
Evelyn Cross each netted one.
Goalkeeper
Tenley Hodge earned the win with two saves over three quarters of action, while
Caity Babcock played a clean fourth, recording one save. Linfield's defense stifled Pacific Lutheran, allowing just one goal, which came from Annie Latimer midway through the third quarter.
The Wildcats also dominated on the ground, collecting 24 ground balls to the Lutes' nine. Irwin led the charge with six ground balls and four caused turnovers, asserting herself on both ends of the field.
