McMINNVILLE, Ore. –
Nick Olsen won the men's shot put,
Andrew Troeh captured the men's high jump, and
Kira Hawaaboo claimed top honors in the women's long jump, highlighting a busy weekend of results for the Linfeild Wildcats Friday and Saturday at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker.
The meet, held annually at Linfield's Maxwell Field, featured a mixture of NCAA Division III and NAIA teams, club teams and at-large entries.
MEN
Troeh shared top honors in the high jump with a leap of 6-1¼, topping a field of 11 competitors.
Olsen popped a personal record shot put mark of 52-0½, exceeding his previous top mark by more than a foot. Olsen also enjoyed a PR in the hammer, placing sixth with a heave of 145-10.
Making his collegiate debut, newcomer
Jacob Tabares clocked 22.71 in the 200 to nab second place.
Alex Oathout ran a personal record time of 31.24.38 in the 10,000 run, a mere .12 seconds shy of cracking the Linfield Top-10 list.
Conner Dooley placed eighth in a field of 54 runners in the 1,500. His time of 4:04.27 was a new personal best.
Luke Niemi secured fifth place in the 400 in 51.49.
Charles Dayton was a fifth-place finisher in the 100 in 11.31.
Durham Huson raced to a 16.71 finish in the 110 hurdles, good for fourth place.
The men's 4x100 relay, comprised of
Liam Christensen, Dayton,
Mason Bowles and Tabares, raced to a first-place result in 43.28.
WOMEN
Hawaaboo won the long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 8 inches, well short of her career-best effort of 19-6¾. Hawaaboo also placed second overall in the 100 (12.60 seconds) and ran on the winning 4x100-meter relay squad, joining teammates
Taylor Roles,
Paige Kasso and
Rachelle Silis.
Freshman
Analissa Paresa was third in the pole vault with a personal record of 11-1½, surpassing her previous best result by one-quarter inch. Natalia Freimuth was runner-up in the 400 hurdles (1:12.05) and turned in a sixth-place result in the 100 hurdles (17.06).
Silis placed fifth in the 400 in 1:01.83 and sixth in the 200 in 27.44.
AHEAD
The Wildcats head to Newberg on Saturday to compete in the Rich Allen Classic at Stoffer Family Stadium on the campus of George Fox University. First events begin at 10 a.m.
