McMINNVILLE, Ore. – In the penultimate game to the 2024-25 season, Linfield welcomed Whitman into Ted Wilson Gymnasium Friday night in a rematch of Linfield's best win on the season. The Wildcats were unable to replicate the magic from earlier this season and came up short against the Blues, 78-70.
After trailing 32-28 at halftime, Linfield surged early in the second half.
Chase Bennett drained a three-pointer to trim the deficit, and
Jack Greenwood's jumper gave Linfield a 38-37 lead, their first of the game. However, Whitman responded with timely three-pointers and strong bench production, outscoring Linfield 46-42 in the second half.
Linfield was paced by
Cade Collins, who scored a team-high 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Bennett contributed 11 points and dished out five assists, while
Cayden Lowenbach chipped in 10 points and collected five rebounds.
Jack Greenwood and
Jake Downing added nine and seven points, respectively.
Isaiah Amato led Whitman with 18 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, while also tallying four assists and three steals. Jacob Fotu added 16 points off the bench, hitting 7-of-9 shots, including a pair of three-pointers.
Linfield's bench totaled 30 points, with
Max Juhala and
Garrett Callsen each pouring in six points. The Wildcats shot 49.1% from the field but struggled from long distance, hitting just 6-of-19 three-point attempts. Whitman connected on 10 three-pointers and capitalized on 22 points off Linfield turnovers.
