Reed Brown Welcome

Reed Brown named newest men's basketball assistant coach

| By:
Men's basketball assistant coach Reed Brown
Linfield men's basketball head coach Elijah Gurash bolstered his coaching staff last week, announcing the hiring of Reed Brown, set to serve as one of two of the team's assistant coaches.

Brown joins Matt Gehrke on the coaching staff, bringing a slew of Northwest Conference familiarity as well as Division I coaching experience to McMinnville.

"I could not be more excited to add Reed Brown to our coaching staff." Said Gurash on the addition of Brown to his staff.

"I've had the privilege of coaching Reed in college and working with him in the past.  He is an extremely hard working, responsible and analytical young man that will instantly impact our program on and off the court."

The newest Wildcat coach arrives after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Montana State Bobcats men's basketball team while studying for his master's in sport and coaching sciences. The Bobcats went 33-32 overall with a 21-15 record in the Big Sky during his time in Bozeman. Brown assisted in player development for all position groups, developed analytic reports used for scouting, tracked offensive efficiency during games, and assisted with program operations.

Prior to Montana State, Brown worked as an assistant coach with NWC-rival Whitworth for two seasons, going 20-9 in the NWC and earning a trip to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Working for his alma mater, he competed on the Pirates men's basketball team for four seasons, earning NWC Scholar Athlete recognition all four years. He also played-for and coached alongside Linfield's Elijah Gurash during his time in Spokane.

"I'm honored and excited to join the Linfield Men's Basketball program and become part of the Linfield community." Said Brown

"I'm incredibly grateful to Coach Elijah Gurash and Athletic Director Scott Brosius for the opportunity and their belief in me. Coach Gurash has been a mentor to me for nearly a decade, both as a player and as a coach, so the chance to work alongside him at Linfield is truly special. Returning to my home state and contributing to a championship-level program is a dream come true. I'm eager to get to work, continuing to build relationships with our student-athletes, and help continue the proud tradition of Linfield Basketball!"

Reed's duties primarily consist of player development, scouting reports, practice planning, in-game adjustments, recruiting, and other aspects of program operations.

He graduated with his bachelor's degree in business administration from Whitworth in 2021 and his master's degree in sport and coaching sciences from Montana State in 2026.

Linfield men's basketball aims to return to the NWC Tournament in 2026-27 after falling short by just one game in 2025-26 in Gurash's first season at the helm of the Wildcats program.
