Wildcats beat Pirates for third straight win

SPOKANE, Wash. - Linfield extended its winning streak to three games with a 76-59 victory over Whitworth on Friday night at Whitworth Fieldhouse. The win improved the Wildcats' overall record to 14-2 and 5-2 in Northwest Conference play.

Linfield started slow, trailing by three at the end of the first period but quickly regained control after Logan Roberts scored nine points in the second quarter and the Wildcats took a 35-31 lead into the locker room. The Wildcats shot 43.3% from the field for the game, including 37.5% from three-point range, and converted 72% of their free throws. A solid defensive effort also helped Linfield secure the win, as they grabbed 43 rebounds, blocked three shots and forced 13 turnovers.

Allie Mead led the Wildcats with 15 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field. Tana Hoekema contributed 14 points and five rebounds, while Amelia Solt added 13 points and five rebounds. Miki Vermeulen chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds, while Natalie Rosetti recorded career highs in points (9) and rebounds (10).

Whitworth was led by Mya Bair, who recorded 17 points and 14 rebounds. Ashlyn Peterson also had a solid game, finishing with 16 points, but the Pirates struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 19.2% on three-pointers.

Linfield's offense clicked in the second half, scoring 19 points in the third quarter and finishing strong with 22 points in the fourth. Despite Whitworth's best efforts to close the gap, the Wildcats' strong shooting and consistent defense sealed the win.
