PARKLAND, Wash. — Linfield showed its strength in a commanding 58-38 victory over Pacific Lutheran on Friday night at Olson Auditorium, improving to 11-1 overall and 2-1 in the Northwest Conference.
The contest started out in a back-and-forth battle with Pacific Lutheran leading by one at the end of the first period. Starting in the second quarter, Linfield's defense settled into the game and allowed just 21 points through the remaining three quarters.
The Wildcats' offensive attack was led by
Miki Vermeulen, who contributed a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Vermeulen was a dominant force on both ends, shooting 6-for-9 from the field, including 1-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Amelia Solt also made a significant impact with 13 points, while adding four rebounds and one assist.
Allie Mead supported the effort with seven points, five assists, and seven rebounds, including several key defensive plays.
Linfield out-rebounded Pacific Lutheran 41-27, including 12 offensive boards, which helped the Wildcats dominate in the paint with 32 points compared to just 12 for the host team. Additionally, Linfield capitalized on fast-break opportunities, scoring seven points in transition.
Pacific Lutheran was led by Sydney Reisner, who finished with 10 points and 2 assists. Emi Wada added eight points and a steal while Stacie Spahr grabbed nine rebounds to go along with her three points.
Linfield maintained a steady lead throughout the game and sealed the win with a late 7-0 run, including an and-one layup by Vermeulen.
