TACOMA, Wash. –
Gabby Crist and
Star Pfleiger each tallied four goals apiece as Linfield won decisively over Puget Sound 17-7 at Baker Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats put up 46 shots compared to 19 for the Loggers.
Savannah Irwin added three goals while
Maya Wright and
Maizri Chandler each chipped in two. Irwin led the 'Cats defense with six caused turnovers.
Tenley Hodge totaled two saves.
Cat Schilli led the Loggers (2-7, 1-5 NWC) offense with four goals. Mimi Carrier-Berndt and Michaela Chen each caused three turnovers. Goalkeeper Phoebe Crowther tallied 13 saves.
Linfield grabbed an early lead at the end of the first quarter with goals coming from
Leah Stednick, Wright and Crist. The Wildcats added another goal before Puget Sound's first score five minutes into the second quarter. Linfield added four more goals before halftime and held an 8-2 lead at the break.
Four more goals in the third quarter extended Linfield's lead to 12-5 heading into the final frame. The Wildcats outscored the Loggers again in the fourth quarter and cruised to their largest margin of victory over a Northwest Conference since 2022.
