PORTLAND, Ore. – Linfield cruised to its second victory of ten or more goals after defeating Lewis & Clark 19-8 at Griswold Stadium on Wednesday night.
Gabby Crist scored four goals for the second straight game while
Savannah Irwin also netted four goals.
The Wildcats outshot the Pioneers 27-22.
Mackenzie Kulick and
Maizri Chandler each added three goals. Crist led the 'Cats defense with three caused turnovers while also scooping up three ground balls.
Tenley Hodge totaled 10 saves.
Kate Meinhard, Evelyn Burnett and Rowan Levandoski each tallied two goals apiece for the Pioneers. Meinhard led the Lewis & Clark (0-12) defense with three caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Zoey Hamel-Hyland tallied five saves.
Lewis & Clark scored the first three goals of the opening quarter. Linfield then responded with seven straight goals to take a 7-3 lead with seven and a half minutes remaining before halftime. The Pioneers and Wildcats traded one more goal each before the break as the 'Cats led 8-4 at halftime.
The 'Cats extended their lead with six more goals in the third quarter. Linfield earned a running clock and earned its second straight road win after outscoring Lewis & Clark 5-2 in the final quarter.
