McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield scored 20 goals or more for the third time this season in a dominant 22-7 victory over Pacific at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex on Friday night. The Wildcats have won 12 straight meetings against the Boxers.
Gabby Crist led the Linfield offense with six goals.
Madison De La Trinidad was right behind Crist with five goals while
Maya Wright and
Mackenzie Kulick each added four.
Star Pfleiger and De La Trinidad each scooped up five ground balls.
Savannah Irwin led the 'Cats defense with three caused turnovers. In goal,
Tenley Hodge totaled two saves. Linfield outshot Pacific (2-11, 0-9 NWC) 41-11.
Hyland Cullen-Musengo led the Boxers' offense with three goals. Cameron Cabuco and Devyn Davis each totaled two goals. Cullen-Musengo led Pacific with four ground balls while the Boxers caused three turnovers. Sophie Sheppard played the most minutes in goal for the Boxers and tallied 10 saves.
De La Trinidad's three goals powered the 'Cats to an early 7-2 first-quarter lead. The Wildcats expanded their lead with six more goals in the second frame to hold a 13-5 lead at halftime.
Linfield scored six more goals in the third period to earn a running clock. The 'Cats scored the final five goals to pull away in the fourth quarter. Linfield's defense held Pacific without a goal in the final quarter.
