McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield found offense early and often en route to a dominant 24-3 win against Eastern Oregon on Friday night at the Linfield Lacross and Soccer Complex.
Gabby Crist finished with a game-high seven goals and helped the Wildcats to the third-highest scoring total in program history.
Leah Stednick finished with six goals while
Savannah Irwin,
Mackenzie Kulick and
Maizri Chandler each scored three. In total, the 'Cats fired 29 total shots with 26 being on goal.
Tenley Hodge totaled three saves.
Jade McCoy led the Mountaineers with two goals while teammate Saydee Hetrick added one. Eastern Oregon tallied 13 shots with 10 being on goal.
The Wildcats pounced on their early opportunities. Linfield tallied a 6-0 lead less than five minutes into the game and earned a running clock by the end of the first period with an 11-0 lead. Linfield added five more in the second period with Eastern Oregon also getting a goal. By halftime, the 'Cats were comfortably in control 16-1.
Linfield's offense continued to cruise in the second half, scoring five more goals each in the third period. The Wildcats let off the gas in the final quarter, scoring three more goals off the sticks of Kulick and Irwin. The Mountaineers scored one goal in the third in fourth quarters.
