Wildcats finish non-conference play with big win

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a commanding 116-66 win over Douglas College on Saturday afternoon at Ted Wilson Gymnasium. The victory sets the stage for the Wildcats to begin Northwest Conference play next week against Pacific.
 
Linfield led wire-to-wire, outscoring Douglas 50-33 in the first half and 66-33 in the second. The Wildcats showcased a balanced offensive attack, with five players scoring in double digits. Lucca Hart led the way with 16 points, including going 4-for-5 from behind the arc, and added two assists. Zach Luz contributed 15 points, knocking down three from range while Jake Downing netted 12 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
 
Cayden Lowenbach made his presence felt on the inside with 12 points and five rebounds in 15 minutes of action. The Wildcats also saw significant contributions from Cade Collins and Percy Whittaker III, who both tallied six rebounds to lead Linfield, with Whittaker III also snatching three steals.
 
Douglas struggled with turnovers, committing 25 on the day, which led to 27 fast-break points for Linfield. The Wildcats also capitalized on their size advantage, dominating in the paint with 60 points in the key. In contrast, Douglas managed just 32 points in the paint.
 
Defensively, Linfield was aggressive throughout the game, collecting 15 steals and blocking three shots. The team's depth was evident, with the bench contributing 78 points.
 
Douglas College was led by the two-headed attack of Lorenzo Bonamin and Griffin White who each poured in 13 points in the loss. Scottie Austin stood tall in the pain, reigning in seven rebounds to go along with eight points.

Linfield now shifts its attention to its conference foes as it travels to Forest Grove to take on the Boxers this Friday night in the Stoller Center.
