McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield secured a dominant 70-50 victory over Bushnell on Sunday afternoon, at Ted Wilson Gymnasium. The Wildcats' balanced offensive attack and lockdown defensive play were key factors in their win.
The Wildcats struggled to gain momentum in the first half, committing 10 turnovers in the first 20 minutes and shooting just 43% from the field. They managed to turn up the intensity in the second half and opened the third quarter on a 22-5 run to break the game open.
Casey Bunn-Wilson's squad maintained this lead throughout the rest of the competition and secured its ninth straight victory, extending the best start to a season in program history.
Linfield showcased their depth, with five players reaching double figures.
Allie Mead led the charge for the home team with 15 points, while contributing five rebounds and eight assists. She was complemented by
Miki Vermeulen, who added 13 points and grabbed three boards.
Gillyan Landis contributed 11 points, including a key three-pointer, while also providing two rebounds and a block. In the paint,
Eve Burke made her presence felt, scoring six points and securing six rebounds.
On the Bushnell side, they struggled to find consistent scoring opportunities throughout the game. Libby Mathis led the visitors with 12 points, while Mandy Sisul contributed 11 points including three three-pointers. However, Bushnell struggled with ball control, committing 19 turnovers and shooting just 37% from the field.
Linfield capitalized on their opponent's mistakes, finishing with a 10-0 advantage in fast break points. Their defensive pressure also resulted in six steals, led by two steals from Mead. The Wildcats were also solid on the boards, recording 23 rebounds to Bushnell's 19.
