Linfield shows heart in 76-67 loss to Warner Pacific

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Linfield's men's basketball team fell to Warner Pacific, 76-67, in a non-conference matchup on December 14, 2024, at Ted Wilson Gymnasium. Despite an impressive first-half effort, the Wildcats were unable to maintain their momentum in the second half, allowing the Knights to pull away.

The Wildcats were led by Josh Ryan, who scored 14 points, including four three-pointers, and added three rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Max Juhala also contributed, finishing with 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Cade Collins provided a spark with five points and two rebounds. Linfield shot 45.6% from the field (26-of-57) and 40% from beyond the arc (10-of-25), and shot well from the free-throw line, converting 5-of-7 attempts.

Linfield was aggressive on the boards, finishing with 29 total rebounds, including 26 defensive rebounds. Despite this, they were plagued by 13 turnovers and committed 22 fouls, which led to a significant free-throw disparity. Warner Pacific took full advantage of their opportunities at the line, making 25-of-29 attempts. The Wildcats' defense tallied one block and three steals in the contest.

Warner Pacific was led by Tre'von Cason, who had a dominant performance with 34 points, including 16-of-17 from the free-throw line. Cason also contributed five rebounds and five assists. The Knights shot 40% from the field (24-of-60) and 16.7% from three-point range (3-of-18). They controlled the game through their free-throw shooting and rebounding, pulling down 38 total rebounds.

Despite the loss, Linfield showed resilience in the first half, tying the game five times and force seven lead changes. However, Warner Pacific's balanced offense and ability to get to the charity stripe helped them begin to pull away in the second half and Linfield was unable to recover.
