Pietrok finds equalizer in 1-1 draw on Senior Day

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - In a thrilling Senior Day match at the Linfield Soccer Complex, the Wildcats battled through the cold, fall weather and played Willamette to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.

The game, which featured an impressive late effort from the Wildcats, saw several seniors take the field in their final regular season home game. The scene was an emotional one before the start of the match as teammates embraced and reminisced on memories made throughout their time in a Linfield uniform. The honored seniors include Riley Omonaka, Sidra Griffin, Jaeda Doctolero, Jordan Stoner, Rae Gerking, Yaya Rodriguez, Emilee Miller and Kami Echiverri.

The game was scoreless for much of the match until Willamette's Nina Krassner-Cybulski broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, with an assist from Maddee Reid. Linfield responded late, however, when sophomore Sofia Pietrok controlled the ball at midfield and weaved her way through the defense before finding the back of the net in the 86th minute to level the score at 1-1.

Julia Alvarez continued her amazing freshman campaign with three shots, bringing her season total up to 34. Jocelyn Jacobs and Amalia Tufts accounted for one shot on goal each to go along with Pietrok's that ultimately resulted in a goal.

Both teams had their share of chances throughout the match. Linfield finished the match with 13 shots, including three on target. Willamette took six shots, three of which were on goal.

Goalkeeper Alexa Fritz had a solid performance in goal, recording two saves, while Willamette's Sam Borngasser also made two saves.

With the tie, Linfield finishes its home schedule with a strong showing, honoring the Wildcats' seniors.
